Christina Westrope
Christina Westrope (b. 1998) is a fine artist from Northern California. She received an Associates degree in Studio Arts with honors at Sierra College in 2020. This full-time oil painter primarily uses female figures, with a focus on their emotional content rather than narratives. Since Westrope was a teenager, she has used art to navigate and understand the people and world around her. The artist explores ideas of the self, gender norms, identity creation, and the imperatives of human connection. She clearly highlights her fascination with and appreciation for the human figure and the challenges that occur when capturing realistic portraiture. In 2020, she had her first solo exhibition and has continued to show in group shows since. Westrope looks forward to the day she can produce and show another body of work. Christina continues to explore and develop concepts and techniques in her practice.
